this International Women’s day, we celebrate what it is to come together as a group of women, and sing.
‘Here in my Heart’ by Sarah Quartel is a favourite piece for many singers in the choir: it speaks about the beauty of nature and the joy of making music. We last performed this piece in October 2020 at a concert that took place between two national lockdowns, when it felt especially poignant. We hope You enjoy it.

I was on the 1 train on Manhattan’s West Side one day when I saw the poem “Heaven,” by Patrick Phillips. I was immediately captured by the simple beauty of Patrick’s poem, and the mystery of the first line, “It will be the past.” I loved his vision and thought immediately that I wanted to compose music for this poem. Mystery, joy, wonder. “Heaven” is the winner of choral composition competitions sponsored by both the Manhattan Choral Ensemble and Georgia College. Performed by the Georgia College Max Noah Singers, Dr. Jennifer Flory conducting. this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

I bring my guilt to Jesus,
To wash my crimson stains
White in His blood most precious

I lay my wants on Jesus,
All fullness dwells in Him;
He healeth my diseases
He doth my soul redeem,
He doth my soul redeem
I long to be with Jesus,
Meek, loving, lowly, mild;
I long to be like Jesus
The Father’s holy child,
The Father’s holy child.
I long to be with Jesus
Amid the heav’nly throng,
To sing with them His praises,
And learn the angels’ song.
And learn the angels’ song.
God BLESS You!!!!!!

You haste away so soon;
As yet the early-rising sun
Has not attained his noon.
Stay, stay, until the hasting day
Has run but to the evensong;
And, having prayed together,
we will go with You along.
We have short time to stay as You,
We have as short a spring;
As quick a growth to meet decay,
As You or anything.
We die as Your hours do, and dry away
Like to the summer’s rain;
Or as the pearls of morning’s dew,
Ne’er to be found again. this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less
