PREMIERE PERFORMANCE
lyrics: Ana Vrdoljak (1833-1869)
A part of the concert held on August 8th 2013 in Tribunj (Croatia) during the first edition of "Papandopulijana Tribunj", a festival which has been initiated in the honour of Boris Papandopulo (1906-1991), one of the greatest Croatian composers.
Papandopulo composed "Pozdrav Zori dalmatinskoj" on August 1st 1976 in Opatija (Croatia). Written in 1844 by Ana Vrdoljak, a poetess from Imostski (Croatia), the lyrics of this song date back to the times of Illyrian movement, celebrating the launching of the magazine "Zora dalmatinska", a literary and educational weekly issued in Zadar, thus being the first Croatian literary magazine to be issued outside Zagreb (from 1844 to 1849). The song was published on the cover of the No. 44 of the magazine, issued on October 28th 1844. less

It is a meditation on the meaning of transubstantiation.
I have also made a French translation and a German translation of the piece (also including the Latin introduction)
which are also available on this site.
Hoc est enim corpus meum
The world's eternity lies here within my hand.
The weight of pain, of love, redemption is a sigh upon my hand,
My Christ, Lord of the infinite,
small to my comfort in my hand.
Humility of Love that tender here lies low.
White, trusting, full of care within my hand.
So, in my hand lies God.
Hoc est enim corpus meum. less

Ljubljanski madrigalisti Mixed chamber choir is a renowned and successful Slovenian vocal ensemble, founded in 1991. In 2003, Matjaž Šček, the conductor of the group, was replaced by andreja Martinjak, who performed regularly with the choir and took part in national and international choir competitions where the choir as well as the conductor were winning numerous prizes and awards. The greatest achievements of the choir include a gold plaque, awarded in the 20th Slovenian national choir competition, Naša pesem (Our song) 2007 and the second place in the 9th international choir competition in Maribor 2008, where the choir also won a special prize for the best Slovenian choir of the competition. In 2008 we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the birth of Slovenian composer Pavle Merkú with a special cycle of concerts. We also performed the fairy folk-tale by Robert Schumman, Der Rose Pilgerfahrt (The Pilgrimage of the Rose) – an oratorio.
