Musically, Inspira incorporates a cappella, contemporary and show Choir components to expose youth to a wide range of music and performing opportunities locally, nationally as well as internationally. Inspira serves as a community outreach program, which empowers youth to make a difference in their local and international community through a variety of programs, community service, activities and performances. The Winelands Chamber Choir is a fledgling Chamber Choir based in the Western Cape Winelands District of South Africa, formed in 2010 out of our passion for choral music, ranging from classical to contemporary.

With a current membership of around 30 singers, Glasgow Chamber Choir was founded in 1994 and has developed into one of Scotland’s finest amateur Choirs. Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the pres...  moreWith a current membership of around 30 singers, Glasgow Chamber Choir was founded in 1994 and has developed into one of Scotland’s finest amateur Choirs. Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. The Choir performs regularly in Glasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other Choirs. Recent BBC radio engagements have included William Walton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland. The Choir features regularly in Raymond Gubbay’s Christmas Festival in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.  less

In 2003, Matjaž Šček, the conductor of the group, was replaced by Andreja Martinjak, who performed regularly with the Choir and took part in national and international Choir competitions where the Choir as well as the conductor were winning numerous prizes and awards. The greatest achievements of the Choir include a gold plaque, awarded in the 20th Slovenian national Choir competition, Naša pesem (Our song) 2007 and the second place in the 9th international Choir competition in Maribor 2008, where the Choir also won a special prize for the best Slovenian Choir of the competition. In 2008 we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the birth of Slovenian composer Pavle Merkú with a special cycle of concerts. His compositions have been performed worldwide and been very well received. He is well known for his horn playing and has premiered over 200 works written for him. He worked as a Fulbright Senior Lecturer in Music at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya in 1993-1994 during which time he was greatly influenced by Kenyan music and as a result composed his Missa Kenya in 1995 for SATB chorus, piano and obbligato horn. The Gloria does not require horn or piano but makes use of upbeat syncopated rhythms in the voice parts and percussion which drives a compound rhythm throughout.
