The Choir itself is composed of students, staff, faculty, and members of The Twin Cities community. Over The years, The Choir’s repertoire has included performances of: Britten’s Rejoice in The Lamb, The Requiems of Brahms and Mozart, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and oThers. Auditions held every August and January.

The original church, built in The 1880s, had a strong Choir ...  moreOur small but talented Choir consists mainly of young people. All Choir members receive a first-rate musical education. There has been a long tradition of musical excellence at St Laurence’s. The original church, built in The 1880s, had a strong Choir of men and Boys who took part in The Festival of Britain services in 1951. When The new church was opened in 1968, The musical tradition continued. A new Walker organ was installed in The church, using some pipework from The old organ and Directors of Music have included David Sanger, Professor Roger Wibberley, Paul Dewhurst, Tom Fowkes, Marcus Wibberley, Iain Simcock and andrew Ibbotson. The current Director of Music is Huw Morgan. Girls were first admitted to The Choir some ten years ago, but The Choir remains unique in this part of south-east London in that it continues to use only trebles (girls and Boys) on The top line. Its first members were students of The Club's Music School and many of Them participated in The Youth Choir of The city of Heraklion, under The direction of Mrs. Katerina Tzagkaraki. The name of The ensemble originates from Thalitas, an ancient cretan composer and legislator, after whom a street in Heraklion is named; in this street The first rehearsals of The ensemble took place. The ensemble's primary goal was to acquaint its members with The a cappella (“in The chapel”, without church organ accompaniment) vocal music of The renaissance period. THALITAS began by studying and performing works of renowned composers of that era (e.g. Josquin des Prez, G. P. da Palestrina, Orlando di Lasso) to assist The learning process of its members' musical studies.
