We are a mixed, non-audition choir. All songs are taught by ear and we don’t expect anyone to learn the words off by heart. However, music can be made available for those who want it. We sing a range of different songs, including pop, gospel, world music and classical. We mainly sing songs with piano accompaniment, provided by our famous pianist, Geoff. We hold our own annual concert, and we are often invited to sing at other local events such as the local MayFest.
our members come along for “enjoyment, friendship and satisfaction as well as singing with a group of like-minded people”.
Singing is reputed to release endorphins in the brain, and we’ve certainly noticed amongst us a sense of well-being following rehearsals and in particular, concerts. We are a very sociable bunch and often meet for a drink at the Chimp House on Gloucester Road following our rehearsal on Thursday evenings.
Please do come along, new faces are always welcome. ... less

The choir performs concerts each semester and also sings at Remembrance Day ceremonies, convocation ceremonies, and other events on campus and in the community.
We are a volunteer, non-auditioned group open to all, but choir members are expected to regularly attend rehearsals and the semester retreat, and to practice their parts on their own time. We usually put up practice files under “Resources” (members-only access) so that you can download your part and listen to it on whatever portable music-playing device you own. No musical experience is needed, but the ability to read music is an asset (if you can't read music, we'll help you learn). less

Tanto de meu estado me acho incerto,
Que em vivo ardor tremendo estou de frio;
Sem causa, juntamente choro e rio,
O mundo todo abarco e nada aperto.
É tudo quanto sinto um desconcerto;
Da alma um fogo me sai, da vista um rio;
Agora espero, agora desconfio,
Agora desvario, agora acerto.
Estando em terra, chego ao Céu voando,
Nua hora acho mil anos, e é de jeito
Que em mil anos nao posso achar ua hora.
Se me pergunta alguém porque assi ando,
Respondo que nao sei; porém suspeito
Que so porque vos vi, minha Senhora.

It has since grown from a small choral group to a self-run community choir with a wide ranging repertoire, performing music that bridges cultures and unites faith traditions.
The project won an ABC award in December 2009 at the Royal Society for the Arts and was cited by the judging panel as ”an excellent, innovative way of bringing people together through a shared passion for music”. Koruso! host performances at least twice a year and to date has performed at a variety of venues across its home borough and beyond.
Members come from all walks of life and all across Southwark. We enjoy singing together every Thursday from 6:30pm at Oliver Goldsmiths Primary School, Peckham Road. New members are always welcome - particularly tenors and basses.

The programme of inspirational compositions by Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Schumann is a perfect prelude to spring and encompasses the Romantic themes of dream, destiny, heroism, and pantheism. Brahms’ Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny) contrasts heavenly bliss with the sorrows of the human condition, while Schumann’s Nachtlied evokes the serene world of sleep. Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture portrays the fall of a once all-conquering hero and Mendelssohn’s Die Erste Walpurgisnacht is a dramatic musical rendition of the clash between nature-worshipping Druidic tradition and new belief in a God disembodied from the natural world.
The concert will be conducted by Andrew Griffiths, with KCS’s partner orchestra the Thames Camerata, and distinguished soloists, Alexandria Moon, Emyr Lloyd Jones and Ambrose Connolly.

our strength is in our repertoire and our ethos. We sing songs of protest, passion and celebration throughout the ages from all around the world. Leaving no generic stone unturned, our repertoire is wildly eclectic and deeply funky; songs to make you laugh, stomp your feet, shiver with harmonic delight and keep coming back for more!
our Musical Director Kirsty Martin explains our vision: “We believe that collective song is a strong and versatile instrument that can move mountains. We stand out from the sing-along choirs and the corporate choral businesses as a bold creative force; an equitable, exploratory and enjoyable musical community who share and perform innovative vocal music together with a palpable and infectious joy. We’re willing to go where no choirs have gone before! We are the music makers, ... less
