While the majority of the singers are undergraduate music majors, membership is open to all students at the university through an audition process. The group has achieved an impressive reputation of excellence, having been chosen each of the last twenty years to perform at conventions or festivals around the country: the Pennsylvania Music Educators State Conference; the Eastern Division Music Educators National Conference; the Music Educators National Convention; the American Choral Directors Association Pennsylvania State Conference, and the ACDA Eastern Division Convention. The choir is renowned on the international stage as well, representing the US at competitions and festivals around the world. The Vocal Artists were grateful to be able to acknowledge the composer in attendance at this performance. Ave Virgo Sanctissima was performed as one of the compulsory pieces for the Tolosa Choral Contest, in which the Vocal Artists were awarded 4 First Prizes as well as the Prize of the Audience.
