By engaging in an intense study, could soon join the most important events of prestigious choralcompetitions earning statements in Arezzo and Ravenna in 1978 and 1979 and Gorizia in 1982. The polyphonic sacred and secular music certainly represents the most relevant part of the repertoire that the Polyphonic Group “Claudio Monteverdi” successfully brings to churches and theaters both in Italy and abroad. Among the repertoire, we can find 1500’s and Baroque musical compositions by Palestrina, Da Victoria, Gallus, Viadana, Hassler, Monteverdi. Among the Romantic authors, on the other hand, we can find Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, and Rossini. Concerning modern Polyphonic music: Poulenc, Kodaly, Bardos, Pizzetti, and Orff. NDV, whose concerts range in style and period from the medieval to the contemporary, takes special pleasure in exploring the music of living composers and has given many Irish pre... moreNew Dublin Voices was founded by conductor Bernie Sherlock in October 2005. NDV, whose concerts range in style and period from the medieval to the contemporary, takes special pleasure in exploring the music of living composers and has given many Irish premières –including James Macmillan’s Cantos Sagrados and Penderecki’s Stabat Mater – as well as eight world premières of works by Irish composers including Linda Buckley, Enda Bates, Jonathan Nangle, Garrett Sholdice, and Ian Wilson. As well as giving concerts, NDV is a regular participant in competitions, both internationally and at home in Ireland. Recent awards include:
• Italy: Three prizes at the 2010 Concorso Polifónico Guido d'Arezzo including First Prize in the Renaissance competition.
• Ireland: Second Prize overall, the Schuman/Europe Award, and the International Jury Award at the 2010 Fleischmann International Competition, Cork International Choral Festival.

The ensemble is made up of undergraduates and graduates of Cambridge University, and currently the choirs of King’s, St John’s and Trinit... moreThe Gesualdo Six are a vocal sextet specialising in the performance of renaissance polyphony, directed by Owain Park. The ensemble is made up of undergraduates and graduates of Cambridge University, and currently the choirs of King’s, St John’s and Trinity colleges are represented.
Recent concerts have included performances of Gesualdo’s Tenebrae Responsories for Maundy Thursday (Feria Quinta), Monteverdi madrigals and anthems by Byrd. The ensemble has also performed music by Ligeti, Rheinberger and arrangements by Philip Lawson. Future engagements include a lunchtime concert in the Cambridge St John’s Music Festival, as well as concerts at Jesus and Caius colleges. less
