Paralia is a touristic seaside village situated on the west coast of the Thermaic Gulf and in the shadow of Olympus.
The Festival has two parts: competitive and non-competitive. However, the character and the main concept of both parts is joining music, vacation, friendship and fun. The idea of the Festival is to bring the music closer to the people and to present the music on the streets and the squares of Paralia, Olympic Beach and Katerini. All Choir ensembles, regardless of the members’ gender and age can apply for participation at the Festival.

As Dunedin’s leading exponent of large-scale Choral works, the Choir strives for the highest standards in performing the classics of the repertoire, such as Bach’s St Matthew Passion, and Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Messiah, the Beethoven Ninth and Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.
In addition, the Choir has performed major new compositions by New Zealand composers, such as Missa Pacifica by David Hamilton in 2006, and John Drummond’s The Journey Home in 2012. For its 125th anniversary the Choir commissioned a new work from Malcolm (Jack) Speirs: Cantico del Sole, and for its 150th anniversary celebrations the Choir commissioned a new work from Christopher Marshall: For What Can Be More Beautiful?.

The Commonwealth Foundation is curating the Commonwealth Stage at the Jubilee Family Festival, celebrating HM Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee on 2-3 June 2012 at Hyde Park in London, UK.
Performances during the two-day event will represent Africa, Asia, Caribbean and the Pacific under the Commonwealth Theme for 2012: Connecting Cultures.
Celebrating the Queen's 60 years as Head of the Commonwealth, these performances offer a glimpse of the rich cultures and creativity the Commonwealth has to offer.

Founded in 1970 by a group of enthusiastic amateur singers, our repertoire ranges from the great classical Choral works to modern contemporary pieces. Under the skilled direction of Howard Kane, who was appointed musical director in 2008, and ably assisted by Robert Woods the Choir has grown in size and reputation.
Rehearsals
Monday nights are rehearsal nights which are held in Frodsham Methodist Church, Kingsley Rd, WA6 6BA from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. New members are welcome to come along and give us a try.
We rehearse from September through to July for our four main concerts, which are held in Frodsham, and also take our music to other venues in the area. Groups of singers from within the Choir are available to sing at weddings and the Choir regularly puts on events to raise money for local charities.
