The poetry of American writer Luci Shaw jumped off the page for Vancouver musician Edward Henderson. Its dazzling imagery is reflected in Henderson's score, commissioned with financial assistance from the Diane Loomer Commissioning Fund for Elektra Women's Choir and premiered at the choir's 2009 Chez Nous: Christmas with Elektra concerts.
Text: Luci Shaw from Wintersong 146

Tell me where is fancy bred,
Or in the heart or in the head?
How begot, how nourished?
Reply, reply.
It is engender'd in the eyes,
With gazing fed; and fancy dies
In the cradle, where it lies.
Let us all ring fancy's knell;
I'll begin it -- Ding, dong, bell.
