The choir was founded in 2017 by Gerrit Scheepers. Brooklyn Choral Artists is a collaborative network of musicians striving towards achieving the highest artistic standards in the Choral art form. They are committed to bringing to life new and diverse Choral works and have commissioned and premiered new works by local and international composers. Its 32 members are all experience musicians coming from across South Africa. They represent a wide range of professionals; from professional singers, to high school voice teachers and Choral conductors. This auditioned choir has 150 adult mixed voices and 300 youth mixed voices rehearsing weekly to bring various masterworks, original pieces, collaborations and new arrangements to the ears of many. Doug Mears is the Artistic Director with Patrick Vaughn as Youth Director. Youth Choruses have two convenient campuses with the professional support of Caroline Crocker and Bonny Tynch and Youth Chorus Directors. Additionally, full time accompanists and music educators meet the rehearsal and music education portions of this semi-professional chorus. FCS is honored to work with renown musicians, conductors and orchestras to present the finest Choral programs available. Sometimes we join other choruses to produce even larger Musical works.
