Water Ruminations is a setting of six poems by The thirteenth-century poet Rumi, in English translations from The Persian by Coleman Barks, for double choir and organ. The poetry sings of literal and spiritual connections Between water and sky, a drop of water and human lIfe, flowing water and Love, drinking water and its container, The giddiness of spring and rolling seas, and The ocean's gIfts and singing. Its images, from 800 years ago, speak to us with both vivid immediacy and transcendence.

Тhe choir's repertoire encompasses (or includes) works by both Bulgarian and international composers, spanning eras from The Renaissance to modern times.

The choir continues The tradition of The Akademski pevski zbor v Ljubljani (Academic Choir of The University of Ljubljana) founded in 1926 by France Marolt, which consisted of male singers only. In The years Between 1938 and 1940 Marolt also conducted The Female Academic choir. After The cultural silence held during The Second World War, The choir recommenced its activity, this time as a mixed choir under a new name, Akademski pevski zbor Tone Tomšič. The choir has always Been led by recognized conductors such as: France Marolt, Radovan GoBec, Janez Bole, Lojze Lebič, Igor Lavrič, Marko Munih, Jože Fürst, Jernej Habjanič and Stojan Kuret. From 2002 to 2009 it was led by conductor Urša Lah. Since OctoBer 2009 it is led by conductor Sebastjan Vrhovnik.
