Himig Batingaw was founded in March of 1979 by group of graduating students of Imus Institute to sing for that year's baccalaureate mass. In the first few years of the Choir's existence, they conducted rehearsals at the church belfry; hence the name Himig (melody) and Batingaw (peal of bells) was born. The Choir is very influential in the rise and development of choral music in the parish and having introduced new pieces for liturgical use most of which are composed or arranged for the group and having graduated noted local musicians from its ranks. The Choir began to tread new ground under the directorship of Mr. Edward Gerodias in the late 1980's then on to Mr. Rey Roland Bergado in the late 1990's, both sought after pianists. This is a true community Choir of more than thirty experienced singers representing the professions of music, teaching, engineering, law, civil service, marketing, information technology and journalism. Nearly one-half of the Choir's singers are students from across many disciplines of study. The Choir is conducted by Paul Robinson and rehearses every Wednesday at the Gillingham Golf Club at 8pm. The Choir is currently looking for new members; the ability to read music is not essential, however, it is helpful and can be very useful. The Choir welcomes anyone who has a passion for singing. Like most traditional male voice Choirs we learn all of our pieces from memory and do not use copies. The Choir has a wide-ranging repertoire from West End showstoppers to opera, religious and traditional choral music. The Choir has gained a reputation for doing many concerts for charity and have raised a lot of money over the years for a number of different causes. The Choir has performed twice at the Royal Albert Hall with over one hundred Choirs in the Festival of Brass and Voices for cancer research UK. The Choir has made several tours both at home and abroad and has raised thousands of pounds for charity totaling nearly £3000 in the past year alone  less
