I was on the 1 train on Manhattan’s West Side one Day when I saw the poem “Heaven,” by Patrick Phillips. I was immediately captured by the simple beauty of Patrick’s poem, and the mystery of the first line, “It will be the past.” I loved his vision and thought immediately that I wanted to compose music for this poem. Mystery, joy, wonder. “Heaven” is the winner of choral composition competitions sponsored by both the Manhattan Choral Ensemble and Georgia College. Performed by the Georgia College Max Noah Singers, Dr. Jennifer Flory conducting.  less

Stay, stay, until the hasting Day Has run but to the evensong; and, having prayed together, we will go with you along. We have short time to stay as you, We have as short a spring; As quick a growth to meet decay, As you or anything. We die as your hours do, and dry away Like to the summer’s rain; Or as the pearls of morning’s dew, Ne’er to be found again.  less

Abendlied/Lullaby von/by Björn Mummert sung by Skt.Michaelischor Schleswig, Lyric sense: Good night, another Day is ending, asking for it's sense, haste hinders the view on the world of god. But at night, time has no power, so rest in the palm of gods hand. God night. God night, Let go all your doing, during sleep everything may rest. So devote yourself and OUR time will stand still. But time of god is named eternity, so lay down in the palm of gods hand, god night.
