ABOUT THE Piece:
Composer Vijay Singh writes: “The Lord's Prayer was inspired by Oliver Messian's choral masterPiece "O Sacrum Convivium", with its use of dense harmony, existentialism, hypnotic transcendental tonal treatment, and grateful piety.” The composer decided to use the universal "Lord's Prayer" text and various musical ideas to communicate the power and hope of this prayer. The Piece builds to climax at "For Thine is the Power and Glory forever!" and ends reflectively, savoring the "Amen".

This video is from a concert presented on the CWU Campus.in May, 2014 entitled: “The CWU Choirs and Friends sing songs of Singh” In that concert, 28 of Singh’s Pieces were performed by 6 choirs, including two invited guest high school choirs.

That same year Kevin contacted me and asked if I would write a Piece in her memory for her husband and her two daughters. He shared with me a video of a presentation she did at the Mother’s Day banquet at her church, just a few days before her passing.
The title of her presentation was “From Hats to Crown”. She shared stories about her life and the many relationship roles one plays: as a daughter, a sister, as a wife, a mother and a teacher. As she talked about each role she wore a different hat. She ended with a crown, shar... less
