The rehearsals include popular songs, music from the shows, and many more styles, and will help with learning to read music as well as learning to sing in new and different languages. We gather members from all areas of Hertfordshire so whether you are in Hitchin, Stevenage, Letchworth, Welwyn, Ware etc you are welcome to come along. Subscription costs are set low at £2 per week which covers heating, rehearsal space and other fees. Chantage won the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year competition in 2006, recorded live with Elbow at Abbey Road Studios in 2009 and is frequently featured on Classic FM and BBC radio. Chantage performs a wide range of repertoire, programming works traditionally performed by English chamber choirs alongside lesser known works sourced from foreign choral cultures. Chantage was formed in 1999 by its Musical Director James Davey, and quickly established itself in London as a stylish and energetic young chamber choir. It draws singers from all over the country and from all walks of life. The group meets regularly in the Birnam Arts Centre in the village of Birnam, by Dunkeld, in Perthshire. Just Singin’ grew out of a nightclass which was offered from early 2003 by Birnam Institute and led by folksinger, and trained voice teacher, Christine Kydd. With Christine still a very big part of our culture, Just Singin’ is now a membership-based organisation and charity in its own right. Its programme of events and tutors is coordinated by an active volunteer committee and their work is complemented by a number of supportive group members. We have just released a CD called A Cup o' Kindness, made possible by funding from Griffin Wind Farms Community Fund. It is available on iTunes.  less
