We sing most typ...  moreWe are a Choir of about 40 people, based in the City of London near St Paul’s Cathedral. 60 years after our foundation in Hanover Square, we are still making great Music and continuing to attract some of the liveliest people in London. We sing most types of choral Music, and have occasionally dipped our toes into both jazz and folk repertoire.

In May, 2013, composer Ol...  more"Luminous Night of the Soul" (Ola Gjeilo) is sung by the Central Washington University Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director) joined by Ola Gjeilo on the piano and the Kairos String Quartet (comprised of CWU string faculty). In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus, joining the Choir in recording 4 of his pieces. This performance of Gjeilo's "Luminous Night of the Soul" is from that session. the other pieces were "Sanctus" for a cappella Choir, and "Across the Vast, Eternal Sky", also with the composer at the piano and joined by the Kairos Quartet. the final piece, "Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages", was recorded both in an unaccompanied rendition (how it is written and published) and in a version with Mr. Gjeilo improvising an accompaniment to the Choir. This was Ola's second time on CWU's campus. His first visit was in the spring of 2011 and yielded 5 videos of his Music, a wide-ranging interview with the composer and other bonus material...    less

Vox Camerata, has, since its inception, organized and participated in numerous performances. Its maiden recital was held in November 2004 at the function room of the Kg. Ubi Community Center. Since then, Vox has gone one to bring its annual Musica Intimœ series of concerts to the Legends@Fort Canning, as well as the Esplanade Recital Studio. Apart from regular recitals, Vox Camerata also performs in various collaborations with other organizations, as well as guest performs in various events. Vox Camerata has previously collaborated with St. Margaret's Secondary School in the Musical 'Anne of Green Gables' which was performed at the University Cultural Centre. Vox Camerata also had had the opportunity to work with the Singapore Police Force Band and Choir in the SPF Band's 80 th anniversary concert held at the Esplanade Concert Hall....    less

Kokopelli has been a featured ensemble at many events, provincially, nationally, and internationally. these include the Rocky Mountain National Music Festival, Podium (the biannual conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities), the regional conference of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the International Society of Music Educators conference, and others. In addition to many North American cities, the Choir has toured to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Malaysia, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia. Kokopelli is often the ambassador for the Choir association and as such, has received several awards for their work with youth, Music education, and the African Projects Fund. Named after Lady Margaret Beaufort who founded St John’s College, Cambridge, the Choir cultivated a powerful and expressive sound combined with a clear, committed delivery of text. the membership comprises singers from across the UK embarking upon the early stages of their careers. Amongst its seminal projects were performances of James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words From the Cross and Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil. It is also hugely passionate about investing in the future of choral Music and has regularly commissioned new works from young composers such as Piers Kennedy (April & Nunc Dimittis) and Owain Park (For the Fallen). In 2018, the Beaufort Singers and Joseph Wicks founded the Boxgrove Choral Festival which gave the Choir its new home. After its enforced cancellation last year, 2021 saw the Festival’s return and its presentation online for the first time.  less

We do a wide variety of Music from Renaissance to contemporary and from a cappella to works with Chamber orchestra. We are a fun loving, very friendly group. However, our Music comes first and hard work is required of all. An audition is required. Our Music Director is William R. Thomas.

In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the Choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his setting of the Ubi Caritas text -- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the project was entitled "In the Moment".  less
