The forty Boys of the choir are educated at Westminster Under School, part of London’s historic Westminster School, established before 1179 as a monastic school of the Benedictine Abbey of St Peter. In 1560 the school was re-founded by Queen Elizabeth I for Boys to be “liberally instructed in good books to the greater honour of the state.” Ever since, the school’s history has been intertwined with the momentous state events and political turmoils of the capital. Old Westminsters dominated Parliament for most of the eighteenth century and the output of leading politicians, statesmen and soldiers has continued to this day. The school’s contribution to literature, philosophy and the arts has been immense, from such alumni as Ben Jonson, John Dryden, Henry Purcell and Christopher Wren to A.A. We bring you classical repertoires as well as delightful Norwegian folk songs. The Nidaros Cathedral Boys’ Choir has over 900 years of rich history. It’s the main choir of Nidaros Cathedral which is located in the ancient capital of Trondheim, Norway. It’s also the main choir of Royal events. The choir will celebrate its 100 years of modern history in 2027 with a global tour. Current artistic director and conductor, Bjørn Moe - a former soprano in the choir, successfully reinvented the choir since joining as conductor in 1973. There are 100 members in the main choir, 70 sopranos/altos (9-15 years old) and 30 tenors/basses (15-68 years old). In addition, the mini-Boys choir, has 40 Boys ages 7-9. The Sierra Boys Choir is the new revival of the Sierra Boys Choir in the 1970s, which was active in the Reno/Sparks/Carson City area and directed by Stan Burke. When Mr. Burke joined the Mario Singers and left to move to Long Beach, CA, the choir was disbanded and a hole was left in the local arts and culture scene. The revival of the choir is a project (and passion) of Nathan Lundholm. Our goal is to provide musical and artistic opportunities to the Boys while teaching them to be generous and thankful members of the local and global community. Our aim is to be fun and entertaining on many levels, from practices to shows, even to social events on the town. We put all volunteers through a background check, and we ask some degree of participation from parents. The Sierra Boys Choir is a 501c3 non-profit corp. We have fun as we build friendships with singers from many Schools, sing a wide variety of music and bring joy to the community. We are ideal for singers who want more singing in their life! We are proud of our alumni singing at NOVA, NYU, JMU, UNT, Bridgewater, Longwood & Westchester.  

Mission statement: To train Boys in the choral art with an emphasis on music literacy and the Highest artistic standards. Boys will learn life-long skills and go forth into the world as skilled tenors and basses and leaders in their future choirs.
