He invented the Early British form of minimalism known as systems music, with his Early "Machines". Humming And Ah-ing Machine is an innovative and fun composition by John White for unaccompanied SATB chorus. The work is made up of short repeated phrases that evolve and entwine, creating a hypnotic and exciting overall work. We performed this piece at a concert in St Michael's Cornhill, London, in 1983.  less

Thomas Beck's arrangement for choir is complemented by a jazz/folk trio and an added verse with fragments from Vinje's text, arranged by Dag Jansson, including vocal improvisation by three soloists. This piece was featured on the concert program at Musikhögskolan Ingesund on 4 May 2014.
