The Choir currently has around 30 members, with Martin Weston as musical director. The Choir's repertoire is wide and varied, with many songs taken from shows and films. We also sing sacred, gospel, jazz, pop and world music, with the odd novelty number thrown in! We perform at many events in Lancashire and Merseyside, including two main concerts each year at Rainford Parish Hall, plus charity events and private functions.  less

The polyphonic sacred and secular music certainly represents the most relevant part of the repertoire that the Polyphonic Group “Claudio Monteverdi” successfully brings to churches and theaters both in Italy and abroad. Among the repertoire, we can find 1500’s and Baroque musical compositions by Palestrina, Da Victoria, Gallus, Viadana, Hassler, Monteverdi. Among the Romantic authors, on the other hand, we can find Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, and Rossini. Concerning modern Polyphonic music: Poulenc, Kodaly, Bardos, Pizzetti, and Orff. Folk music is not forgotten, but presented in accurate elaborations as to meet the musical needs of the Choir. Monteverdi Choir has got in its repertory and i...    less

It strives to enrich the lives of its members through programs stressing musical aptitude, teamwork, discipline, self-confidence and personal growth. Music camps, social outings, concert tours and an annual, child-involved fundraiser are combined with weekly rehearsals and live performances to create the type of nurturing environment that enables members to mature musically and socially. The SCCC and its musical directors serve as mentors, coaches and friends to students in a variety of socioeconomic levels.  less

MYC brings together a membership of almost 400 families and offers youth between the ages of seven and 18 the opportunity to participate in eleven separate choral groups. Focused on drawing connections between music and the greater world, the program offers choristers musical and social education opportunities through weekly rehearsals, annual concerts, and music retreats. The curriculum, focused on thematic musical study, is presented in an environment of sharing, growth, and recreation, allowing MYC to teach discipline, build self-confidence, foster teamwork, and provide constructive activity and positive role models during formative years.  less
