Santiago Veros wrote Almas de Barro at The age of 19, dedicating it to a young woman who at The time was shy and with whom he rarely talked. This piece intimately describes The moments during music Theory classes when The two would look at each oTher continuously, youthfully, and silently, as if unable to do anything else.

W.J. Kirkpatrick's “Away in a Manger” is one of seven carols arranged by Mr. Gjeilo in his Christmas Carols Vol. 1 & 2 (published by Walton Music). Megan McCormick is The soprano soloist on this video.
ABOUT The COMPOSER:
Ola Gjeilo (pronounced Yay-lo) was born in Norway in 1978, and moved to The United States in 2001 to begin his composition studies at The Juilliard School in New York City.
Ola’s concert works are performed all over The world, and his debut recording as a pianist-composer, The lyrical crossover album Stone Rose, was followed by its 2012 sequel, Piano Improvisations. Many of Ola’s choral works are featured on Phoenix Chorale’s bestselling NorThern Lights album, which is devoted entirely to his music for Choir. All three albums are available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc.

The set was recorded and produced in December of 2010 by Allen Larsen in The CWU music building concert hall. The poems, by Joanne Gunnerson, were set by composer John Muehleisen. Bounty and Aversion to Carrots were written for The Seattle Choir Opus 7, The third song, RAH!, was commissioned by CWU.

In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on The Central Washington University Campus, joining The Choir in recording 4 of his pieces. This performance of Gjeilo's "Sanctus" is from that session.
The oTher pieces were "Luminous Night of The Soul", & "Across The Vast, Eternal Sky", accompanied by The composer at The piano and joined by The Kairos Quartet -- The resident faculty string quartet at CWU.
The final piece, "Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages", was recorded both in an unaccompanied rendition (how it is written and published) and in a version with Mr. Gjeilo improvising an accompaniment to The Choir.
This was Ola's second time on CWU's campus. His first visit was in The spring of 2011 and yielded 5 videos, a wide-ranging interview with The composer and oTher bonus material. It resulted in a DVD entitled "In The Moment", available for purchase at http://goo.gl/Xld0o)
