Our repertoire ranges from the traditional to the contemporary, from sacred to 'songs from the shows', from Wagner to Rod Stewart. We maintain a good balance of concert and social activities. We practice every Tuesday night from 7.45pm to 9.30pm at Stithians Methodist Chapel. We have made a number of recordings including (with Stithians Ladies choir) five well known Sankey Albums. In this time the choir has participated in the Madrid Community choir contest, obtaining the first prize in 2009 and 2010, and the secón prize in 2007 and 2008 Within the choir activities, we could also mention their participation in theatre productions of the musicals Persephone and Midas by Steve Pogson, with which they obtained the first prize in the Vademorillo theatre contest. They were also awarded first prize in the Community of Madrid theatre contest, with the musical Super Jim, a play which was written specially for the choir by the British authors Steve Pogson and George Simmers. As a result of the love they had for choir music, they felt a need for a school choir to be established. From the first year of its existence, choir was trained and prepared for the schools’ eisteddfods by two fellow students. In 1998, they both matriculated. In the following year these students continued with the choir training and were compensated for their services by the School Governing Body (SGB). In 2001 they were snatched by nearby schools that were willing to pay them better wages and the SGB had to look for other people who could assist with choir training from the community. This continued until 2004, when the school employed a teacher who studied music at university. In 2009 another teacher, who studied music too, came and volunteered his services at the school. The choir is famous for its amazingly rich collection of fourty-two prizes and awards of different international choir competitions. The years of 2006 and 2008 were particularly successful for the group, as the 4th choir Olympics in China and the 5th choir Olympics in Austria brought twice the Olympic Championship of All-Male choirs to Pécs. In 2014, the Pécs men fascinated the jury and audience again – resulting an absolute first prize in the Beijing International Competition for choirs. As a result of the high artistic reputation, the chorus has been invited to make tours in Europe as well as in the US, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and China.
