Dainius DRUSKIS is the artistic director of the Choir since 2014 when he took the lead of Choir from professor Albinas Petrauskas, who guided the Choir since its first rehersal for 42 years. Each Musical season of „LELIUMAI“ is designated to performances of Choir Music to the listeners in cities and towns in Lithuania, extraordinary festivals and meetings with the Choirs abroad, unforgetable participation in Lithuanian Song festivals. During its history „LELIUMAI“ has been awarded the highest titles in national Choir competitions in Lithuania, has won the third prize at the international Choir competition in Ireland (Cork) in 1983. Choir performances are rich with pieces of various styles, special part of the repertoir is assigned to the contemporary Lithuanian Music. Founded as a male Choir in 1900, it became a mixed Choir in 1907. The Choir was conducted for more than four decades by its founder, the renowned Choir conductor and composer Heikki Klemetti. The current artistic director, Esko Kallio (b. 1974), has conducted Suomen Laulu since 2002. The Choir's repertoire consists both a cappella works and compositions works for Choir and orchestra. Since 1921 the Choir has maintained the tradition of performing the St. Matthew Passion by J.S.Bach every Maundy Thursday in St. John's Church in Helsinki. Suomen Laulu has made five recordings, the most recent of which was published to celebrate Choir's centenary in 2000. The Choir also has its own series of publications, the "Suomen Laulun ohjelmistoa", which contains several of the finest pieces of Finnish choral Music.  less
