Gospel Choir is based in Essex, but occasionally strays beyond! Celebrating our tenth anniversary in 2013, the Choir was formed in 2003 after director Jen and accompanist Jane were missing taking part in Music, having left university. Starting well, with about 15 members the Choir has fluctuated in size, settling early on into a Choir of 8. In 2010 however, the Choir doubled in size and we are pleased that this core of almost 20 people has stuck! Choir members range from 7 years old to 77! We are a sociable bunch with an emphasis on singing for fun. We don’t put people through an audition and being able to read Music isn’t necessary. A good third of the Choir don't read Music. Being able to sing in tune is an advantage though! We have performed at weddings and parties across Essex and Suffolk, for the Women's Institute, local churches, at fetes, town open nights and charity concerts at the Mercury, Headgate and Towngate theatres. We don't pay our singers for performing - we do it for the love! ...    less

Seeds of this traveling ministry were sown during the Choir’s initial recording session in October 1988. The Choir’s debut album, Great Is Thy Glory, released in April 1990 on the Micah Communications label was re-released as The Early Years. TMC’s second live recording, God is our Hope was released in 1994, followed in April 1998 by its Juno nominated album, Follow Him. In February 2002, Instrument of Praise was released. That year the Gospel Music Association Canada (GMAC) awarded TMC a Covenant Award for Best Urban/Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year. The Choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early Music ensemble, transformed into one of the premier non-collegiate chamber groups in the Western United States. This award-winning ensemble achieves high performance standards by drawing on the rich Musical heritage of the region. Many Cantorum singers have solo careers and all have sung with top collegiate ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber Artists, and Salt Lake Vocal Artists. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of talented choral educators. The group won both of its categories at the 2016 Interkultur competition and received special commendation for their performance of Dale Warland and Hugo Distler. A friendly and sociable Choir, we number some70 singers drawn mostly from the Barnes, Sheen and Richmond areas. We perform mainly, but not exclusively, classical choral works, including those of local composers such as Howard Goodall and Gustav Holst, and we occasionally commission new works, most recently from Russell Hepplewhite. We perform three concerts each season at local venues and we also sing at local charitable events at Christmas, and at summer fêtes, and we raise funds for local cancer support charity The Mulberry Centre at our Christmas Carol concert. We offer an open Come and Sing day each season and arrange overseas singing tours, our most recent being a trip to Lisbon last autumn.  less

Come experience the joy of Latin American Music through choral singing! Amazonia Vocal Ensemble was founded in 2007 by Dr. Cristian Grases, and debuted on Nov. 30 of that year at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Miami. The ensemble rehearses weekly and is comprised of volunteer Musicians, both professional and amateur. The ensemble has performed throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties, as well in Naples in 2009 & 2012, Puerto Rico in 2010, and most recently in Washington DC in 2015. The repertoire performed by Amazonia Vocal Ensemble is typically in Spanish but also in other American languages and original dialects such us Portuguese (Brazil), Papiamento (Aruba-Curazao), Quechua (Perú) and Chiquitano (Bolivia) among others.  less
