We sing everything from modern pop to choral and barbershop. On our first birthday, we won the Acappella/barbershop class at the 2011 International Eisteddfod in Wales, and we have earned many awards and recognitions to date in varous competitions. Under the direction of the exceptionally talented Mr Andrew Walker and his music team of award winning vocalists Affinity embraces educational aims, and encourages personal development in singing and performance. Affinity are always happy to hear from potential bookings, and welcome new members to audition for the Choir, we are a fun loving group of women who share the joys of singing, we employ strong values of team work, friendship and support. It has since grown from a small choral group to a self-run community Choir with a wide ranging repertoire, performing music that b...  moreKoruso!, meaning chorus in Esperanto, began in October 2008 as a Southwark Council initiative to promote community cohesion. It has since grown from a small choral group to a self-run community Choir with a wide ranging repertoire, performing music that bridges cultures and unites faith traditions. The project won an ABC award in December 2009 at the Royal Society for the Arts and was cited by the judging panel as ”an excellent, innovative way of bringing people together through a shared passion for music”. Koruso! host performances at least twice a year and to date has performed at a variety of venues across its home borough and beyond. Members come from all walks of life and all across Southwark. We enjoy singing together every Thursday from 6:30pm at Oliver Goldsmiths Primary School, Peckham Road. New members are always welcome - particularly tenors and basses.  less

Dozan wa Awtar Singers received two Gold Diplomas for its participation in the 8th World Choir Games held in Riga, Latvia this year. Dozan wa A...  moreDozan wa Awtar Singers received two Gold Diplomas for its participation in the 8th World Choir Games held in Riga, Latvia this year. The Games included twenty seven thousand singers from four hundred Choirs representing seventy three countries. Dozan wa Awtar, under the leadership of its Founder and Director Shireen Abu Khader, competed in two categories: Scenic Folklore and Mixed Choirs; singing Arabic songs in both and receiving a Gold Diploma in each category. This is the first time Jordan is represented in an international choral competition. On this occasion, Shireen Abu Khader expressed her immense pride at this accomplishment and international recognition and commended the continuous efforts of the singers which led to this achievement. She also thanked all those who have given both financial and moral support to the Choir, as this could not have been achieved without their help. We uphold the tradition and art of male choral singing through the camaraderie of choral membership and in entertaining our audiences. We give our own concerts several times a year in Norwich and beyond, as well as appear at events by invitation. We were Special Guests of 'The People's Soprano' Rebecca Newman at her 2012 and Spring 2016 tour Norwich appearances and we put up a team to challenge the Eggheads for quiz supremacy! We also hold Open Rehearsals at the beginning of each singing season when we invite adult gentlemen to see whether male choral singing is for them, or just to see our singing men at work! We are a women's non auditioned Choir. We sing across a wide range of genres from light classical through to pop and rock. We sing in 3-4 parts, and while working hard on our developing sound, we like to have fun!
