Matthew Berry, the founder and conductor of the Choir, enthusiastically promotes the work of a younger generation of composers, as well as bringing to the fore little-known works of more established writers. Under the direction of John Alexander, the 140-voice Pacific Chorale and its 24-voice professional Chamber Choir, the John Alexander Singers, present an annual concert season at Segerstrom Center and other area venues, as well as appearing as frequent guest artists with local and visiting orchestras. We are a mixed-voice Choir of around 30 singers, performing a wide variety of secular and sacred "classical"; choral music. We mainly sing a cappella, and tend to focus on lesser-known older works, and modern repertoire, often from living composers. However, this is by no means exclusive! The Choir sings three main concerts per year, with a charity carol concert just before Christmas. We are also a sociable bunch, with regular social events and a number of 'spin-off' groups.  less
