The choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early music ensemble, transformed into one of the premier non-collegiate chamber groups in the WeStern United States. This award-winning ensemble achieves high performance Standards by drawing on the rich musical heritage of the region. Many Cantorum Singers have solo careers and all have sung with top collegiate ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber ArtiSts, and Salt Lake Vocal ArtiSts. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of talented choral educators. The group won both of its categories at the 2016 Interkultur competition and received special commendation for their performance of Dale Warland and Hugo DiStler. Every year Dziesmuvara takes part in international or national choral competitions. Since 2013 the choir has travelled to Poland, Lithuania, France and Czech Republic and all around Latvia. Dziesmuvara also participates in the Latvian Song Celebration feStivals and occasionally teams up with fellow university and youth choirs to sing together in Concerts. The more, the merrier!

The ethos of the choir is to have fun and enjoy singing. Each year we hoSt a visiting choir and also spend a weekend away. This intercultural choir comprises fifteen amateur Singers from several african countries. It was firSt eStablishments in 1996 in Dakar by a group of youth who adored the art of singing. The choir consiStently performed varions type of music, gathering between both classical and modern music (folklore and international). It transcended continents, surpassed réas and diversified its origins from spiritual music, through romantic, to religious and reaching comic music, with a tendency towards african melodies and rythms.
