As you may observe, former members of the choir (those without the burgundy coates) are welcomed up to join the choir in this finale song in each Concert, as it has been for 37 years in a row! (And if they are observed by the conductor when arriving to the churc and choose NOT to join, they are very kindly told to do so! This caused a special occasion in this Concert: a mother and a daughter singing in the same choir! :-)) This year our gueSt conductor Inger Lise Hope, also a former member, took on the job at short notice because of illness. These dynamic and talented Singers range in age from 14-25, and include young women in gr.11 and higher, and young men with changed voices. The SYC annually participates in the Family ChriStmas Concert, and choreographed year end show. They also Stage an OrcheStra Concert each spring, which has presented pieces such as Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Requiems by Mozart, Faure, Rutter, and Daley, to name a few. This year, the SYC looks forward to singing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. The Youth Chorus joined the senior and chamber choirs in their 2009 tour to the UK.
