The Sierra Boys choir is the new revival of the Sierra Boys choir in the 1970s, which was active in the Reno/Sparks/Carson City area and directed by Stan Burke. When Mr. Burke joined the Mario Singers and left to move to Long Beach, CA, the choir was disbanded and a hole was left in the local arts and culture scene. The revival of the choir is a project (and passion) of Nathan Lundholm. Our goal is to provide musical and artistic opportunities to the boys while teaching them to be generous and thankful members of the local and global community. Our aim is to be fun and entertaining on many levels, from practices to shows, even to social events on the town. We put all volunteers through a background check, and we ask some degree of participation from parents. The Sierra Boys choir is a 501c3 non-profit corp. The choir calls the Salt Lake Tabernacle, which houses an organ with 11,000+ pipes, home. The choir has won many awards, including an Emmy and Grammy award, sang for 10 US Presidents, and hosts the longest continual broadcast Music and the Spoken Word (which airs live every Sunday at 9:30am Mountain Standard Time). The choir consists of participants in workshop weeks, which are offered twice a year in different European countries. Overtone singing is a new vocal technique that allows for singing two tones simultaneously. EOC sings compositions with written overtones as well as choir improvisations and contemporary music. The effect of controlled overtones on the timbre of classical choir compositions is explored with special ear training.

The choir unites more than 60 singers, who have extensive singing experience in various choirs in Lithuania, and whose desire is to have quality leisure time and enjoy one of life’s most pleasant activities – singing. Their goal is to sing different styles of music and work with various other groups, present high quality musical projects, as well as take part in competitions and festivals in Lithuania and abroad. On December 1, 2013, Bel Canto choir Vilnius rocked the country’s choral music scene and accomplished unthinkable.
