They wanted to show how two seemingly different cultures can fuse together to produce something great. This vision has grown into Chai-Town A Cappella.
Last year we performed at the a cappella competition Anahat, in Berkeley, CA, as a guest act at the dance competition Naach Nation, in New York, NY, and across the Midwest. As 2012 approaches, our group will be reaching its 10th anniversary and putting out our THIRD studio album!
Chai-Town is a completely student-run, non-profit group of 16 members, each of whom has a passion for music. We love sharing this passion with our friends and family, our community, and the world. less

Mother of God, here I stand now praying before this ikon of your radiant brightness, not praying to be saved from a battlefield; not giving thanks nor seeking forgiveness for the sings of my soul, nor for all the souls. Numb, joyless and desolate on earth; but for her alone, whom I wholly give you. less

Chamber Choir Cantinovum (established in 1989) is the youthful and ambitious choir of the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (JAMK) directed by Rita Varonen. Their name originates from the Latin words canti and novum. Together these words become the identity of the choir and mean 'new song'. At present, there are approximately 30 Singers in the choir for whom music is a passionate interest – for many it is also a future profession. Many of the Singers, either study or work at the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences or the University of Jyväskylä.
The repertoire of Cantinovum is colorful and varied. It spans from folk music to sacred music and from Renaissance to modern composers. It is very characteristic of Cantinovum to perform songs that have been specially composed for them. They have had the honour of premiering more than a dozen compositions both nationally and internationally. Some of the composers include: Jussi Chydenius, Jan Hellberg, Juha Holma, Heikki Korhonen, Ilkka Kuus... less

We are a mixed-voice choir of around 30 Singers, performing a wide variety of secular and sacred "classical"; choral music. We mainly sing a cappella, and tend to focus on lesser-known older works, and modern repertoire, often from living composers. However, this is by no means exclusive!
The choir sings three main concerts per year, with a charity carol concert just before Christmas. We are also a sociable bunch, with regular social events and a number of 'spin-off' groups. less
