The New choir is an auditioned chamber choir performing choral works from all genres. The choir has been conducting regularly scheduled performances in the Bay Area since its founding. The members of the New choir have been brought together by their common love for the making of beautiful music. The New choir is dedicated to the study and performance of quality choral literature and sharing the joy and the spiritual enhancement inherent in the making of music. The New choir has been recognized for their performances of thoughtfully prepared programs. Beyond tours, the choir receives invitations for special appearances in the United States and abroad, most recently to participate in the December 2011 White House Holiday Concert Series. As part of that trip to Washington, D.C., the choir also sang at the National Cathedral’s Bethlehem Prayer Service, which was simulcast worldwide. Since its foundation, the choir is in continuous improvement and has been involved in many workshops with Prof.Mustafa Apaydın which were organized twice a year. The choir has a mixed membership including music teachers, musicians and amateur choir singers. The choir’s name is inspired by the famous story written by William Shakespeare and Guiseppe Verdi’s famous opera called Othello and the Othello Castle which is located in the city of Famagusta. The city where the choir is based is known as “Othello’s City Famagusta” all around the world. In the last six years since its formation, the Othello choir has given many concerts in Cyprus and also hosted festivals and choir workshops. The word 'vacilando' is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of the journey rather than focusing on the destination. As such, the choir will take a more casual approach to music-making, with fewer performances throughout the season than Òran, our young adult choir. The group will still place an emphasis on all the things that make Kokopelli's music-making unique, however: community, multiculturalism, choral excellence, and multifaceted performances.  less
