Although the Choir originated and is based in Preston, Lancashire, Members come from all over the North West. Individual Choir Members are involved in a wide range of local community projects and often call upon the whole Choir to help drive fundraising events across the region. One Voice Community Choir celebrates diversity and continually sources new material from its multi-cultural roots. the inspired leadership of Musical Director Tyndale Thomas MBE, combined with 14 years of performance experience has produced a stunning sound and versatile choral ensemble. Named after Lady Margaret Beaufort who founded St John’s College, Cambridge, the Choir cultivated a powerful and expressive sound co...  morethe Beaufort Singers is a Chamber Choir formed at the University of Cambridge in 2016 under the direction of Joseph Wicks. Named after Lady Margaret Beaufort who founded St John’s College, Cambridge, the Choir cultivated a powerful and expressive sound combined with a clear, committed delivery of text. the Membership comprises singers from across the UK embarking upon the early stages of their careers. Amongst its seminal projects were performances of James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words From the Cross and Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil. It is also hugely passionate about investing in the future of choral music and has regularly commissioned new works from young composers such as Piers Kennedy (April & Nunc Dimittis) and Owain Park (For the Fallen). In 2018, the Beaufort Singers and Joseph Wicks founded the Boxgrove Choral Festival which gave the Choir its new home. After its enforced cancellation last year, 2021 saw the Festival’s return and its presentation online for the first time.  less

In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the Choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his setting of the Ubi Caritas text -- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the project was entitled "In the Moment".  less
