We share our love of singing by Performing an entertaining selection of music from a variety of genres. Since our inception, we strive to engage all our audience members, from the musically sophisticated to first-timers. We enjoy bringing our performance art to the Calgary community. We perform at two major concerts per year as well as various community performances. As a distinctive and dynamic women’s vocal ensemble, we collaborate with local artists to perform unique arrangements of familiar and eclectic repertoire. Blend Vocal Association strives to unite in harmony and share our love of singing by Performing a diverse and entertaining selection of musical styles. We ensure our musically sophisticated and first-time audience members leave our multiple-layered performances feeling entertained, upbeat and inspired.  less

Performing with an ensemble of 10 singers and no conductor, Chicago a cappella is recognized as one of the area’s most accomplished vocal ensembles. Under the direction of artistic director John William Trotter, the group spans a repertoire from Gregorian chant to the Beatles and beyond and is known for its performances of sacred works, vocal jazz and pop, folk and international music, as well as a special focus on music written in the present generation. Since its founding in 1993, the ensemble has introduced dozens of works to Chicago audiences for the first time, including commissioned works by Chen Yi, Stacy Garrop, and Tania León. Chicago a cappella has toured to 13 U.S. states and Mexico and has appeared on national radio broadcasts, including American Public Media’s "Performance Today." With more than 80 years experience Performing a cappella (unaccompanied) music and a repertoire that ranges from vocal jazz to barbershop, Chutzpah! is "in your face" right from the start and with every chord. Our day jobs of (from top voice down) a lawyer, a voice teacher, a computer programmer, and an army officer don't exactly bring to mind outrageous laughter and tremendous harmonies, but that's just what Chutzpah! brings to every performance.  less
