Choir's forte always were a cappella performances - claim acknowledged with numerous awards, most recenly - third place at The international Busan Choral Festival and Competition in 2014 and Grand Prix at The most prestigious Polish choir tournament Legnica Cantat in 2011.
Apart from a cappella works, choir perfoms both vocal and orchestral masterpieces such as Verdi's and Mozart's Requiem, Stabat Mater by Dvorak, Poulenc and Szymanowski, Beethoven's 9th Symphony or even J. S. Bach's Mass in h-minor widely regarded as The greatest and most demanding choral piece of all time.

We do not belong to any particular geographical area or church denomination. In over 25 Years, nearly 400 people from all backgrounds have sung with us - often for The first time in an English CaThedral. The number continues to grow year by year. Martin Hall, our founder, became 'Director Emeritus' in Autumn 2006 and MatThew O' Donovan took over The post of Director in his stead. Because of The way we meet, we don't require formal auditions in advance, but new singers are expected to be excellent sight readers and to have a good choral tone. less

It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, The Czech Republic, Wales, and Ireland. The ensemble regularly collaborates with The Des Moines Symphony and sang The Beethoven Ninth Symphony with that orchestra in September 2011. The Drake Choir has performed in Carnegie Hall and has been featured on The conference program of The American Choral Directors Association North Central Division.
The ensemble consists of 64-70 singers who are first-year students through seniors and who represent every College of The University. Auditions for returning students take place in April and for new students during The weekend preceding The start of The fall semester. The ensemble rehearses Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3:30-5:00 p.m. and is conducted by Dr. Aimee Beckmann-Collier, Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Condcuting. less

The choir has travelled widely over The Years with tours in Europe, United States and Canada besides engagements throughout Wales and England. Our concert venues have varied from village halls to national auditoria and great caThedrals. In The Eisteddfod field we have won two National first prizes plus several seconds and oThers. Intends to continue developing Their vocal talent, working a varied repertoire in multiple languages, styles, and four mixed voices (SATB) a cappella or in collaboration with instrumental ensembles. Has The support of The Instituto Politecnico de Castelo Branco, through The provision of space for rehearsals, on Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Castelo Branco (ESART).
Fifteen days after its formation, The band was invited to participate in The IX Spring Concert (Covilha), with The Theme "East and West", taking place on March 15, 2015. He accepted with great pleasure and it turned out a great way for bringing a greater responsibility to The original project. less
