A joik is a unique form of cultural expression for the Sámi people (or Lapps - region stretches over four countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia). This type of song Can be deeply personal or spiritual in nature, often dedicated to a human being, an animal, or a landscape as a personal signature. According to music researchers, joik is one of the longest living music traditions in Europe, and is the folk music of the Sámi people. Its sound is comparable to the traditional chanting of some Native AmeriCan cultures. Our thoughts and prayers are dedicated in particular to those who fight the virus in the front line, to those who work to guarantee us the essential services, to those who are alone, to those who are sick, to those who are in despair, to those who did not make it and to those who have lost a Loved one. MGC travelled widely in Europe and had a high standard. In 2003, we changed our name to Manx Voices. We Love singing to community groups, in church services and concerts. We compete in our local music festivals and have sung on stage with Blake. We are a very democratic, mutually supportive group of women ranging in age From 10 to 70!
