The choir’s repertoire imaginatively balances unaccompanied choral music from the Renaissance period with 19th - 21st century works. Although relatively small in number, the choir is accomplished in singing music in both double and triple choir form. Particular specialisms include the works of William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and Tómas Luis da Victoria. The choir has performed in many prestigious venues in Europe, including Notre-Dame in Paris, Chartres cathedral and Versailles. Events such as the Prague Spring International Festival (Czech Republic) have also featured the choir. In 2006, in Budapest, the choir performed Tallis’s towering 40-part motet Spem in Alium, with the internationally renowned Budapest Monteverdi choir. In 2008 the choir enjoyed a trip to the Lisbon region and sang in some truly fantastic venues, including Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.  less

The choir is inspired by the mission of singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs as an act of worship to the glory of God and to minister to the souls of men. Over the years, the choir is been noted for very inspiring and sensational concerts and oratorios that seek to fulfill the mission above. Very recent of such ministrations include; Israel in Egypt (2008 and 2010), Indulci Jubilo(2015), Handel's Chandos Anthems (2016), Singspiration (2017),and Laudate Deo (2018). The choir has through these platforms touched the lives of many deprived entities through her social welfare responsibilities. We can't say it all and ignore the wonderful personalities the choir has nurtured over the years. We enjoy singing a wide range of repertoire, from classical to jazz and international music. We perform on a regular basis, raising funds for local charities and organisations. We have on going partnerships with choirs in Rheims and Ris Orangis. Our focus is on sharing the joy of singing and friendship.  

The choir is made up of 3 different choirs, English service choir, Yoruba service choir and Teenager church choir. we are about 120 in number.

Girls from 14-24 with exceptional voices from the Southern Gauteng region are welcome to audition and join the choir.

Following the move in 1983 into the West End of Glasgow the choir was renamed Glasgow Lyric choir. ​ Under its present conductor, Julian Evans, the choir sings a wide repertoire of choral music from the Baroque, classical and Romantic periods and traditional Scots and Gaelic songs. We are a mixed voice choir numbering around 30 at present. ​ We gave two concerts in Glasgow during the 2017-2018 season: in December we presented a Christmas programme and in June we gave a concert featuring a selection of music from the movies. However, in April we also gave two concerts in Italy, the first in Barga (including a Vivaldi Credo and Scottish songs) and the second in Milan where we joined forces with Canti Corum to sing Dvorak’s Mass in D. ​ choir members enjoy many social as well as musical events together. The members of the choir are professional musicians. Until now, the choir took part in the projects of the National Theater and The Opera House of Bitola (Heraclea and Likini and Fiddler on the roof); choir seminar in Solun (Greece);many whole concerts and participation in humanitarian conserts. On our programme are represented all type of choir music, accapela and music with instruments.

Being part of the choir requires two very important elements - dedication and commitment - and it is evident that, over the years, these have remained at the core of the choir, demonstrating the loyalty of the choir members not only to each other but to keeping the talent of choral singing alive and well! Excellent performances just don't happen and a lot of hard work and effort is put in at every rehearsal, however, the camaraderie, enjoyed by everyone, is also a very special part of being a choir Member. In 2005 the local Council of the borough of North Down conferred the status of Borough Ambassador on Bangor Ladies choir. This is the first conferment ever to an external Organisation outside of the Council Membership and the choir were privileged and proud to accept this unique position.
