Tartous - Syria
Urjwan choir was launched in September 2015 in Tartous City - Syria as a choir group for harmonically distributed singing. The Adutl choir Includes More Than 60 amateurs, who belong to various social, scientific and cultural groups and segments: school and university students, employees, teachers, engineers, doctors, parents ... and from different denominations and religions of Syrian society and Syrian Cities and Governorates, who were brought together, due to war conditions, in the City of Tartous.
The first objective of establishing this choir was to integrate choral music into our local musical culture as a new type of sung music whereby the choir presents international choral works to its Syrian audience.
Moreover, the choir aims to develop and modernize the methods of Arab musical compositions by harmonizing and rearranging it and singing it in a way that uses the best scientific and technical methods to present the best human voice professionally.

Performed by the Concert choir ensemble of the Girl choir of South Florida on May 18, 2012, at All Saints Episcopal Church in fort Lauderdale, Florida. soloist: Grace Ferrelli, Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson, Accompanist: Gayle Giese.
Text:
The sun slowly sets,
Goes down for the night.
All the little children are sleeping.
All except for one,
The child with the starry crayon.
As the sun sets, she slowly ...
Yawns ... stretches ... and gets out of bed.
She floats up to sit on the moon ...
To draw on the fresh piece of black paper.
She doodLes all night.
Some earth people watch her,
As she draws the constellations. Less_link" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="$(this).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">Less

Stoke Fleming is a small hamlet on the English Channel. The text for this work is a secular meditation on the rocks and the waves written by the composer during a weekend stay there in 1978. The music was completed in January 2000 and received a reading by the Gregg Smith Singers at the Adirondack Festival of American Music in July 2000.

English Translation:
Oh! What an unbearable pain!
Oh, gracious God!
What an unbearable sorrow!
The third bell of the Cathedral just rang;
The sun set long ago behind Mount Lopital...
Mother Nature derailed, straining everyone to misery.
Large structures and small rafts have turned to dust and ashes.
Jesus, Marie, and Joseph... Grace and Mercy...
Mother Nature derailed, straining everyone to misery.
We see, but we don't understand,
It happened so suddenly.
The earth trembled!
The earth shook harder than a desert's leaf.
Help! Help! Rescue me, I beg you!
I'm at a loss for words...
Dies irae, dies illa; (Day of wrath, day of anger)
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
(Grant them eternal rest, Lord.)
Haiti! Haiti! What an unbearable pain,
Tighten your belt.
Haiti! Haiti! You are a valiant woman,
Hang in there, don't give up...
