We Annually we p...  moreCarlow Choral Society Carlow Choral Society is a mixed-voice choir of over 60 members (SATB) directed by Blánaid Murphy, Musical Director of the Palestrina Choir, St. Mary’s ProCathedral Girls Choir, Dublin Bach Singers and RIAM Choir. We Annually we perform two large concerts with professional soloists and orchestral musicians in Carlow, ‘Glory of Christmas’ in the National Concert Hall and annual ‘Christmas Crackers’ family concert in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, Carlow. We have a remarkable repertoire of many choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. Mathews & St. John Passion, Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation & Seasons, Brahm’s Requiem & many more. We sing at home & abroad. In November 2011 the choir recorded a Christmas CD. New members are welcome. We rehearse in St. Patrick’s College, Carlow Monday nights from 7.45-10pm. The emphasis is on enjoying singing together with lots of energy and enthusiasm. Everything is taught by ear - no written music is used at all. We perform at community events and have members from across the mid-Cornwall area.

Under the direction of Lisa Wong, the choir has been praised for its beauty of sound, high level of artistry, and engaging performances. The Wooster Chorus presents several concerts both on and off-campus throughout the academic year, and embarks each spring on a week-long domestic tour. Membership is by audition. Recent collaborative performances have included Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor with the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus.  less
