The Choir has performed throughout Scotland and beyond, with music covering all periods and most styles. Critically acclaimed, and attracting capacity audiences, at the Edinburgh Fringe and elsewhere, the Choir is regularly invited to perform at prominent events and has been broadcast on BBC Radio (3, 4 and Scotland) and Classic FM. Cadenza’s most recent CD - Bright Star: Cadenza at Christmas – was reviewed in Classical Music Magazine and included in Breakfast on 3’s Advent Calendar in December 2013. Jenny Sumerling became Musical Director in 2000 and under her direction Cadenza has gone from strength to strength. Ben Parry, Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain has been Cadenza’s Patron since 2003. The Choir had recently given the first South American (and second overall) performance of my “Alleluia! O virga mediatrix”. Along the way I'd been chatting with a Choir member about Pope Francis' Argentine heritage – a setting of text from an Argentine translation of the Bible seemed especially fitting. The Choir has been a finalist in both the CBC choral competition for amateur...  moreThe Saskatoon Chamber Singers was founded in 1977 by a group of former Greystone Singers (University of Saskatchewan) who wanted to continue singing in a quality choral ensemble. The Choir has been a finalist in both the CBC choral competition for amateur Choirs and the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, British Columbia, and participated in the non-competitive Festival 500 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. It has also been the guest Choir at Saskatchewan Sings, and sang at the installation of Lynda Haverstock (a former member) as Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan. In 2010, the Choir performed at Podium, the biennial conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities, held in Saskatoon. The Choir’s repertoire has been rich in variety since its establishment, and Canadian music has always been an important component of its programming.
