Our home is in heaven, this is a promise, So say yes to salvation." Part of the winter Singing Safari concert, Ipswich 2013. From the singing of the Soweto Gospel Choir, arranged by Chris Rowbury. This concert was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear. First and foremost, its name is closely associated with its first conductor Artūrs Bobkovics (1885-1959), who already then had become "the king of Latvian symphonic music". He organized the concerts of symphonic music and helped promote them. For the first time, the choir came together in the evening of October 18, when about 90 students gathered at Riga Secondary School No 2. The testing of voices was not very strict, and of the entire enthusiastic crowd only one student was rejected. Then, for a month, rehearsals were held, in which the voices of would-be singers were trained and made to keep in tune. After that another testing was held. This time the competition was much stricter, and only 40 singers were selected. This mixed-voice choral ensemble varies in size d...  moreOrganized under the direction of Dr. Brady Allred in 2010, the Salt Lake Vocal Artists has become the first professional-level touring and recording choir within the Salt Lake Choral Artists organization. This mixed-voice choral ensemble varies in size depending on the project from 16 to 40 auditioned singers and performs a diverse repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. In its premiere season, the SL Vocal Artists were honored with an invitation to participate in the 42nd Tolosa Choral Contest in October 2010. After a successful concert tour of the Basque region of Spain, the SLVA competed against renowned choirs from all over the world and were awarded First Prize in all four categories they entered, as well as the special Audience Prize. To conclude only its second season, the SL Vocal Artists were one of only 25 choirs and the only American choir to perform at the World Choral Symposium in Argentina following a two week concert tour of the country in July and August.
