Nevenka's repertoire includes songs from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Russia, Greece, and Georgia, as well as Ladino Sephardic and Rom (Gypsy) songs. the group was formed in 1976 by women who shared a common interest in the complex harmonies and compelling rhythms typical in Balkan Music. Very much in the Eastern European tradition, Nevenka includes women of all ages making Music together.

A ladies' a capella four part harmony group we have our roots in barbershop but sing all sorts of Music from old standards and barbershop classics to mega pop hits by groups like Abba and Queen. We perform sing outs for local groups in our area of Hampton in South West London, and take part in local fairs and festivals. Our weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays are a fun evening of singing, chatting and having fun together. We are always open to having new members. Experience is not required, nor is the ability to read Music as we have 'teach tracks' with the songs in your part on (tenor, lead, baritone or bass) and access to these are given alongside sheet Music. From time to time we run singing courses or open evenings for which there are no auditions. It has 170 singing members in soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections. Presenting classical choral Music of a professional standard in Yorkshire and elsewhere in Britain, including at the BBC Proms and Manchester Arena, the Chorus is broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3. the Leeds Festival Chorus was first formed in 1858 (the year Queen Victoria opened the Leeds Town Hall) to sing at the first Leeds Musical Festival, and was reformed for each succeeding one. the Chorus became independent in 1985. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2008 with a performance of a specially-commissioned work by Judith Bingham - a world premiere.
