The establishment of the chorus is to build a platform for the Youth to promote choral Music and realize their dreams, as well as to organize different cultural exchange activities to promote Music and serve the society. In the summer of 2011, HKVC held their debut concert “Sing Out a Dream” in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall to raise funds to support the charitable work of the Lions Club of Central. In 2012, the chorus organized and performed five shows of a grand scale original Youth choral Musical “Like. So?”. The Musical received positive comments and the chorus was even invited by renowned pianist Ms. Nancy Loo to an interview and performance in her RTHK 4 Radio Program “Cantilena”. MYC brings together a membership of almost 400 families and offers Youth between the ages of seven and 18 the opportunity to participate in eleven separate choral groups. Focused on drawing connections between Music and the greater world, the program offers choristers Musical and social education opportunities through weekly rehearsals, annual concerts, and Music retreats. The curriculum, focused on thematic Musical study, is presented in an environment of sharing, growth, and recreation, allowing MYC to teach discipline, build self-confidence, foster teamwork, and provide constructive activity and positive role models during formative years.  less

Founded in 2000 by Carol Woodward Ratzlaff in response to widespread cuts to public School arts programs, 2018-19 marks VIVA!’s 19th season as a downtown family of choirs. VIVA!’s choirs include: the Preparatory Chorus (ages 4-6); the Junior choir (ages 6-10); the Main Chorus (ages 9-16); the SATB Chamber choir (senior high School, university students and adults); and the non-auditioned VIVA! Community choir (SATB) which incorporates Everyone Can Sing (ECS), an auditioned group for those aged 13 and up with disabilities.
