Its activities soon expanded and now include a regular concert programme, we...  moreLichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir was established in 1980 (by Peter King, then Assistant Organist at Lichfield Cathedral) to sing services during the Cathedral Choir's holidays. Its activities soon expanded and now include a regular concert programme, weddings and services throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands, and guest appearances at other cathedrals. The Choir has a versatile repertoire of sacred and secular music ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary, and it enjoys the challenge of new and experimental writing. Widely acclaimed Sunday morning broadcasts on BBC Radio 4 have raised its profile well beyond the region, as have its two appearances in the BBC Sainsbury's Choir of the Year Competition, several performances in the Lichfield International Festival, and the recordings 'In Every Corner Sing' (Regent REGCD196) & 'Belgian Choral Works' (Regent REGCD241) with the Lichfield Cathedral Choir and the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble. We are a mixed voice Choir of approximately 40 voices. All are welcome, and we would especially welcome new members in the lower voices.

Formed in 1956 as the Derby Police Choir, the Choir retained a long-standing connection with the Derbyshire Constabulary until 2018 when the Choir separated from the police and rebranded with an emphasis on promoting male voice choral singing and raising ...  moreFormed in 1956 as the Derby Police Choir, the Choir retained a long-standing connection with the Derbyshire Constabulary until 2018 when the Choir separated from the police and rebranded with an emphasis on promoting male voice choral singing and raising money for charity- epitomised through charity registration in 2020. DCMVC rehearses Mondays 7:30-9:30pm at St Osmund's Church, London Road Derby. The Choir is also available to book for events. For more information, see our website.

All of them are former members of the “Dresdner Kreuzchor” (Choir of the Church of the Holy Cross Dresden) or the “Thomanerchor Leipzig” (St. Thomas Choir Leipzig), two of the most famous boy's Choirs in Germany. The singers have set themselves the target to present their listeners a wide musical spectrum. Their repertoire consists of vocal music from Renaissance and Baroque to Romanticism to the 20th and 21st century. Important elements are works of Jacobus Gallus, Michael Praetorius, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Francis Poulenc and Rudolf Mauersberger. In addition they also perform with popular music. Music of the “Comedian Harmonists”, “The Beatles”, Billy Joel or the German group “Wise Guys” are also an essential part of their repertoire.
