Following a competitive selection process each September, eighteen gifted students are awarded a scholarship, with recipients of The award coming from a range of academic disciplines across The university, from Music to Medicine, Law, Agricultural Science, Commerce and Engineering. Moses Hogan (1957-2003) Spiritual Moses Hogan was an internationally renowned pianist, composer and arranger of Choral music best known for his arrangements of spirituals. He studied with a full scholarship at Oberlin Conservatory of Music before continuing with his graduate studies at Julliard School of Music. He won several piano competitions during his performance years and published many CD's as well as songbooks. 'Hold On!' is an example of his 'soloist vs Choir' style of spiritual arrangements. There is a solo throughout that sings The primary lyrics and message of The song while The rest of The Choir provides a lively and energetic - often rhythmic - accompaniment.
