Our annual programme typically includes 6-8 concerts in the Harpenden area and further afield, a cathedral tour, open singing days and the occasional recording. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at St George’s School, Harpenden. We come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and have a thriving interns scheme for talented singers from local schools.
Over our 50 year history, the Leas have sung under 11 permanent conductors and many guests, each of whom has made a distinctive contribution to our style and repertoire. In December 2011 we appointed Benjamin Goodson to take up the baton.

Our repertoire spans the centuries, from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. Our particular speciality is folk music from all over the globe. Cantóirí sings each song in the original language. We are lucky as we have been able to draw on the language skills of Choir members from around the world. The ACGC has then on proudly carried the name of the Philippines during their International Tours in Europe, Asia, and North America.
Since 2002, Professor Maria Lourdes V. Hermo leads the ACGC as the group’s first female conductor. Under her baton, the group has released two commercial recordings. In 2006, the group participated in numerous European competitions, where they swept all prizes in Miltenberg, Germany and garnered high awards in Arezzo, Italy.
