We are conducted by maestro Leonardo San Juan and we seek to spread contemporary music by bringing to the public exotic and unique works from all over the world. This vision has grown into Chai-T...  moreChai-Town was formed at the University of Illinois, when a group of Young men came together with their love for music. they wanted to show how two seemingly different cultures can fuse together to produce something great. This vision has grown into Chai-Town A Cappella. Last year we performed at the a cappella competition Anahat, in Berkeley, CA, as a guest act at the dance competition Naach Nation, in New York, NY, and across the Midwest. As 2012 approaches, our group will be reaching its 10th anniversary and putting out our THIRD studio album! Chai-Town is a completely student-run, non-profit group of 16 members, each of whom has a passion for music. We love sharing this passion with our friends and family, our community, and the world.  less

With a membership of around 80, we are an eclectic bunch of people who share a common love of choral music. We offer new singers a warm welcome and the opportunity to take part in choral concerts in London four times a year, plus various other events and weekend trips away both abroad and in the UK. there is a thriving though optional social side to choir life including drinks after Monday night rehearsals and occasional choir social evenings and other events. the Choir's repertoire ranges widely from staple works such as Bach's St Matthew Passion and Mendelssohn's Elijah to more unusual and rarely heard works by composers such as Jonathan Dove and the Choir's music director Jonathan Rathbone. It recorded Richard Maunder's new edition of Mozart's Requiem under its former music director Murray Stewart, and in 2009-10 the Choir released a CD of the Choir's repertoire, Where'er You Walk, to celebrat...    less

Members won't need to be able to read music but they will need to be able to sing in tune. We aren't charging a fee but we'll ask for donations to cover the cost of using the building and we'll find a way to fund the sheet music.
