Diliup had orchestrated the music ...  moreThe Royal College School song written by late Principal H L Reed has been re-recorded by Kalasuri Diliup Gabadamudalige - an old Royalist, keeping in line with the original piano music score written by H L Reed himself. Diliup had orchestrated the music in terms of a classical orchestra and recorded it with the vocals of old Royalist Santhush Weeraman of B&S fame and the Royal College Choir. The re-recording of the School song was an initiative taken by the Secretary RCU Manju Ariyaratne on the advice of the RCU Council together with the consent of Prinicipal Upali Gunasekra.  less

For years, the ensemble has used an arrangement of Irish Blessing to welcome new members and bid farewell to graduati...  moreWhen I was in High School (2007–2011), I sang in a student organization called The Midnight Men, a group that has been active since 2007. For years, the ensemble has used an arrangement of Irish Blessing to welcome new members and bid farewell to graduating seniors. After nearly two decades of performing the same version, my former High School director, Matt Wanner, reached out to me in 2026 with the opportunity to create a new arrangement of this cherished tradition. In writing this setting, I sought to create something both accessible and meaningful, while providing opportunities to feature students, whether graduating seniors or gifted soloists, in a special way. It is my hope that this arrangement will become a meaningful part of the ensemble’s tradition and hold a special place in the hearts of its members for many years to come.  less

The choral programme starts with a general education for ages 5-7, before they are ready for Junior Choir (7-10), Intermediate Choir (10-13), Stage Choir or Youth Choir (13-18). Youth Choir contains over 80 singers, and the total number of singers meeting each week at the academy is over 180. The junior Choirs are directed by Mrs Kate Venvell, Stage Choir is directed by Richard Halton and Julie Gossage, and Youth Choir is directed by Tim Venvell.  less
