Swan. Foreward: Santiago Veros wrote Almas de Barro at The age of 19, dedicating it to a young woman who at The time was shy and with whom he rarely talked. This piece intimately describes The moments during music Theory classes when The two would look at each oTher continuously, Youthfully, and silently, as if unable to do anything else. The piece, written as a counterpoint assignment, was intended to be performed during music Theory class as a declaration of love. The idea was to make a musical representation of those moments. Members saw The need for a name which reflected Their distinctive sound and musical objectives. They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting The eclectic and often unusual repertoire of The Choir. In using The archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – The Choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich Choral tradition whilst establishing itself in The 21st century Choral landscape. The Choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact The world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in The local WA and wider Australian musical community. As a strong supporter of emerging young composers and Australian composers, Voyces showcases Their works on a regular basis.  less
