The mission of the DaCapo Chamber Choir is to identify, study, rehearse, and present in public performance and recordings, the outstanding choral Chamber works of the past 100 years and to champion music of Canadian and local composers. Our performance season consists of three annual concerts in Kitchener-Waterloo: once in the fall around Remembrance Day, a mid-winter, and a spring concert. In addition, the Choir performs on an ad hoc basis at other events. We have worked with numerous choral groups, musicians, and composers since our inaugural season, including the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Elora Festival Singers, Kingston Cantabile Choirs, Guelph Chamber Choir, Penderecki Quartet, Lachan Chamber Choir, Willem Moolenbeek, Eric Friesen, Bruce Dow, and Eric Whitacre, to name just a few. The Choir performs regularly in churches and concert spaces in Jerusalem and around Israel and has performed in festivals and programs in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United States, and Switzerland. The Jerusalem Oratorio Chamber Choir is an unaffiliated Choir whose membership spans the religious/secular and political divide in Israeli society. Since 2006, when Gary Weidenaar took the baton, the Choir has received invitations to appear at four state & regional conferences: Meticulous attention is given to performing music of various periods or parts of the world in the style appropriate to that era or culture including adjustments of not only style but tone color also. Recent clinics with guests Chanticleer and Weston Noble have helped the Choir grow and the Choir regularly premiers new works by composers.  less
