They specialise in modern Musical theatre and performance but also sing other genres including pop and gospel. The choir's music is arranged by choir leader Nicole Dawson who is a trained composer and arranger. Rehearsals are every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Priory Hall, Christchurch and the choir perform reguLarly all over the South Coast. New members are currently being accepted for the summer term 2016, entry is by informal, private audition. Siyabonga DLamini and Sibusiso Sithole, with the primary objective (/s) of rehearsing and performing choral music, providing Musical services to the community when the need arises, to provide a Musical home for all interested in the greater Pretoria and Johannesburg area and to promote the standard of choral music. Secondarily Tswelopele aims to educate its members in the singing of all types of choral music, arrange concerts for the general public to attend, perform choral works with other choirs and participate in various competitions and music festivals in the community. The choir currently consists of 48 choristers. The choir being fairly young went to its first (TCMA) competition on October 18th 2015, winning first pLace in the development section. The choir has since went on to perform at Computeshare and Standard Bank respectively. Tswelopele Chorus attended its first GACMA competition on May 29th 2016 and pLaced 6TH in the standard category. MYC brings together a membership of almost 400 families and offers youth between the ages of seven and 18 the opportunity to participate in eleven separate choral groups. Focused on drawing connections between music and the greater world, the program offers choristers Musical and social education opportunities through weekly rehearsals, annual concerts, and music retreats.
