Of the three Westron Wynde Masses (Taverner, Tye and Sheppard) this one is notable in that it gives the altos the "Westron Wynde" tune throughout.

Each movements of the Mass represents one island from Indonesia. Gloria represents West Papua island, with traditional yelling and voice imitation of the traditional nose-flute.

This setting has been sung in Cathedrals in Manchester, Southwell and Dublin and the Agnus has also featured in services at Christ Church Didsbury. The recording here is the Agnus Dei sung by the Voluntary Choir of Manchester Cathedral during their visit to Southwell Minster.  less
