Started out as a small group...  moreOne Voice Engineering Chorale is one of University of Santo Tomas' (UST) College-based Choirs. Housed in the Faculty of Engineering, members are composed of students from the different Engineering and Computer Departments. Started out as a small group of young Engineering students in 1976, the group now is currently the UST-Engineering's pride. Under the baton of Mr. Ronald Raz, the chorale has been able to earn places in the annual University Competitions. Even until now, the group has been maintaining a position in the top college Choirs of the University. The chorale is not only known for their repertoire ranging from sacred music to mellow pop, they are also known for their acapella renditions of up beat pop music. They are also engaged in rendering their music not only to the school community but also in other events that may be requested.  less

The ensemble performs masterworks of the choral-orchestral repertoire su...  moreLehigh University Choral Union is a concert Choir comprised of students, Faculty, staff and community members and performs with the other ensembles of Lehigh University Choral Arts. The ensemble performs masterworks of the choral-orchestral repertoire such as Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Orff's Carmina Burana, as well as opera choruses, a cappella repertoire, and works specially composed for them. Performances include world-renowned guest soloists and musicians. The ensemble is directed by internationally ACClaimed conductor and composer Steven Sametz. Lehigh University Choral Union has performed at New York's Carnegie Hall and has toured internationally in China, Portugal, Hawaii, Italy, Spain, Austria and Hungary. No audition is required but the ability to read music is helpful.  less

Recorded May of 2010 in the CWU music building concert hall. "Carpenters of God" was written specifically for the Chamber Choir's appearance at the 2010 NWACDA Conference. The composer talks about the inspiration for the piece (Weston Noble's visit to CWU in 2009) for the first 65 seconds. The piece is sung beginning at 1:05 in the video. The Choir has also recorded YouTube videos that feature music of Claudio Monteverdi, Ola Gjeilo, John Muehleisen, Einojuhani Rautavaara, and Tomás Luis da Victoria. In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Ce...  moreComposer/pianist Ola Gjeilo joins the CWU Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director) in presenting Gjeilo's "The Ground" - featuring the the CWU string Faculty members who comprise the Kairos String Quartet. In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the Choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo ACCompanies the Choir on "The Ground" He is playing a written ACCompaniment on this video. He created an improvised ACCompaniment on the other two videos of this series. One is on his setting of the "Ubi Caritas" text and the other is on his composition, "Northern Lights", Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the project was entitled "In the Moment". Open to students, Faculty, staff, and community members, the Choral Union performs 3-4 concerts per year with the Drew University Festival Orchestra in the Concert Hall of the Dorothy Young Center for Arts.

In May, 2013, composer Ol...  more"Luminous Night of the Soul" (Ola Gjeilo) is sung by The Central Washington University Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director) joined by Ola Gjeilo on the piano and the Kairos String Quartet (comprised of CWU string Faculty). In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus, joining the Choir in recording 4 of his pieces. This performance of Gjeilo's "Luminous Night of the Soul" is from that session. The other pieces were "Sanctus" for a cappella Choir, and "Across The Vast, Eternal Sky", also with the composer at the piano and joined by the Kairos Quartet. The final piece, "Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages", was recorded both in an unACCompanied rendition (how it is written and published) and in a version with Mr. Gjeilo improvising an ACCompaniment to the Choir. This was Ola's second time on CWU's campus. His first visit was in the spring of 2011 and yielded 5 videos of his music, a wide-ranging interview with the composer and other bonus material...    less
